Is the Philippines safe?
For the most part yes. However, parts of the Philippines are not safe for foreign travelers. Mindanao, the southern region of the Philippines, has a large Muslim population and is not recommended for travel. I have walked around Cebu city at 3 am and never felt afraid. Davao in Mindanao is the exception, it is very safe and I would never worry about anything either.

Can I extend my stay if I decide I want to stay longer?
Yes. For visitors who are planning to stay more than 21 days, for up to 59 days, a temporary visitors visa is required. Extension for up to 11 months can be obtain if you can provide valid reason with Bureau of Immigration and Deportation.

What do Filipino think of older people?
Filippinos show respect for age. They use the proper appellations for elders and relations. Find out right away what appellations are used in the family.

What vaccinations do I need for the Philippines?
None are required to enter the country. Foreigners arriving from an area infected by plague, typhus or yellow fever are required to have valid vaccination and immunization certificates.

How Much money can I bring into the Philippines without having to declare it?
General 10,000 USD is the maximum. If you bring more I would not advise it, since there are more efficient ways of bring money in. Bank-to-Bank transfer is the best way I have found.

What Visas Are available for retirees?
The Special Resident Retiree's Visa (SRRV) is a special non-immigrant resident visa that provides its holders with multiple-entry and indefinite stay status in the Philippines.
